Espersen is a global leader in the processing of frozen fish blocks, fillets, and breaded fish products.
Food quality and safety are Espersen’s highest priorities, as evidenced by numerous certifications, including HACCP. The company operates production facilities in Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, and Vietnam, supplying clients across Europe and the United States. Its customer base includes major retail and food service chains such as Tesco and McDonald’s. Espersen Polska Sp. z o.o., headquartered in Koszalin, employs approximately 1,300 staff members and ranks among the largest fish processing plants in Poland.
In 2012, when Espersen’s management decided to invest in a modern industrial network infrastructure, they first consulted two of their long-standing business partners – Intermec (now Honeywell) and Cisco. These global technology leaders recommended SKK S.A. as a reliable and experienced systems integrator, specializing in network solutions for production and warehouse environments.
Implementation goal
Design and Deployment of a WLAN Infrastructure Tailored to the Company’s Operational Specifics
Optimization of LAN and WLAN Network Management
Benefits of implementation:
Centralized network management
Simplified network operations
Secure communication
Stable and high-performance network across all branches
Enhanced efficiency of warehouse and production operations
Increased enterprise productivity
Originally, Espersen expressed interest in deploying a wireless network at its Koszalin branch. Following the necessary site surveys and the preparation of a preliminary design, and as a result of further discussions, SKK proposed a broader and more comprehensive solution.
The presented concept involved unifying the network infrastructure across all branches of the international corporation. In addition to the implementation of a WLAN, it included the reorganization and reconfiguration of the existing LAN. The new framework was intended to standardize network operations not only in industrial zones but also in office areas.
The proposed solution was very well received by Espersen, after which the implementation phase commenced.
SKK S.A. is a highly professional company that adopts a client-centric, tailored approach. The specialists from SKK demonstrated strong commitment throughout every stage of the project and effectively addressed unique challenges encountered during the implementation process. The standardized solution delivered brings numerous benefits to our organization. The reliable and high-performance network has significantly optimized various procedures in the areas of warehouse logistics and production. Both the quality and efficiency of operations have improved markedly.
SKK Networks activities
In the initial phase of the deployment, the following locations were included: in Poland – Koszalin (as a pilot site); in Denmark – Fredericia, Hirtshals, and on the island of Bornholm – Ronne, Hasle, and Nexo; in Lithuania – Klaipeda.
At a later stage, the network was deployed in Russia – in Veliky Novgorod, and subsequently in the USA – in Preston near Seattle. In each of the aforementioned branches, the implementation process followed a similar pattern: SKK S.A. specialists conducted on-site inspections and radio wave propagation measurements, followed by the preparation of a network design, including the selection and layout of appropriate equipment. This was then followed by the installation, configuration, and commissioning of the network infrastructure.
Both the design and implementation phases were carried out, as far as possible, without the involvement of Espersen personnel and in a manner that minimized disruption to the company’s operations.

The implemented solution consists of standardizing the network infrastructure across all company branches included in the deployment. These are centralized networks based on Access Points (APs) and Controllers. Each location operates independently, while the central management point with the network server is located in Koszalin. Both the network configuration and the hardware are consistent across all sites. This unified approach significantly simplifies network management and maintenance. The standardization of office networks has also improved inter-site communication and increased productivity for employees traveling between locations on business assignments.
Results
Currently, several hundred devices—including laptops, smartphones, tablets, terminals, and scanners—operate within the Espersen network worldwide. Reliability and security remain top priorities.
The application of modern technologies was a deliberate decision. One of the key objectives of the deployment was to design the network using components that ensure stable performance, high security, and strong efficiency.
The fact that the client has not experienced any failures several years after the initial installation confirms the validity of the chosen solution.

It is worth noting that some of the access points operate in cold storage and freezing environments, with temperatures reaching as low as -30°C and -10°C, respectively. For these areas, SKK provided dedicated devices specifically designed to function reliably under such extreme conditions. In other production zones, the installation work had to account for a different set of operational factors.
Given Espersen’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards in food quality, all production equipment at the facilities is cleaned daily using specialized disinfecting agents. Consequently, the access points were equipped with waterproof enclosures, engineered and custom-built by SKK to ensure durability and compliance with hygiene requirements.
